Metro Cinemas Boronia

An older man with a grey beard wearing a navy blue striped polo shirt smiles as he sits in a movie theatre. He is surrounded by rows of empty red theatre seats in a traditional cinema auditorium. The lighting creates a warm, theatrical atmosphere highlighting his friendly expression.

Tom's story

The big screen has been my everyday reality since I was a child, thanks to my parents, who ran the old Plaza in Geelong. I was 8 years old when I started helping out, and since then, I’ve worked at theatres across Victoria. But nothing compares to the joy of returning to Boronia in 2005 to set up Metro Cinemas Boronia, the same cinema I was there to witness open in 1976.

Behind the scenes: A family production

Metro Cinemas is not just a business; it's a family legacy. My daughter Ellie expertly manages the cinema, while my wife Cynthia and sister-in-law Lisa handle administration and front-of-house. Even my son Kristian chips in with technical know-how.

Our philosophy is simple: we're a family business that looks after families of all kinds.

We carefully curate our film selection to cater to our community. Whether you’re young, a senior, or part of the Croydon Film Society, we’re dedicated to making your experience special.  With tickets at just $13 for adults and $10 for seniors, concessions, and kids, we're making sure that the movies remains an affordable treat for all.

Rolling out the red carpet for everyone

We strive to create memorable experiences for everyone who walks through our doors. We’ve introduced a membership program and special events, like our upcoming Father’s Day celebration. Plus, with our newly acquired licence, you can now enjoy a glass of wine with your fresh popcorn and choc top.

At Metro Cinemas Boronia, it’s all about family – ours and yours. We can’t wait to welcome you.
